July 12, 1986 R.R #9 Calgary Alberta T2J 5G5 [stamped] July 17 1986 The Directors and Management of the Wheat Pool Alberta Wheat Pool Head Office 505 2 ST.SW. Calgary Alberta Dear Sirs: As what Pool members it came to us a shock and surprise that the Midnapore Elevator is in the Process of being shut down. We think it is very unprofessional of the Pool not to notify its members of this intended closure, instead we hear it over the news cast first. 1. We could Possibly see the closure of this Elevator if it was situated on a spur line that was in disrepair. 2. As the Elevator is only open two days a week we are certain you are not pressured by some group to close this facility down. 3. The Elevator is not in total disrepair, with a little maintenance every now and then, it can still continue to operate. 4. Finally we feel that the Pool sometimes acts like an oversized Bureaucratic Giant that steamrolls over the small operator, oblivious to his needs. We would hope that you would still need our support to keep up the good image as a farmer owned Co-Operative. We urge you to reconsider and not phase out our Elevator yet. Yours Truly; [the undersigned; 19 signatures]
